The Autism Education Trust (AET) have produced some highly useful guides to help you make the most out of your child’s education at school.
Working Together with your Child’s School
This guide will help you to work with your child’s existing school, and can help develop good communication with your child’s teachers and SENCO in developing strategies to best support your child.
The guide takes you through a questionnaire to establish which areas are of most important, and the nature of support your child may require to thrive at school. There are also links to other documents which you may find useful, including a guide for schools.
Finding a School for your Child with Autism
This guide is intended to help you decide on a new school for your child. An introduction is provided to help you learn which questions to ask and what to look out for in a potential school. This is followed by a series of questions you may like to ask, with room for notes about the schools response and your own comments.
We highly recommend these free guides, and hope you will find them useful in making decisions about your child’s education.
Take a look at the Parents resource page on the AET website for more free resources and information about these free guides.
